Berlin, Germany

Berlin is the capital of Germany and the second largest city in Europe. A divided city for 40 years following World War II, today you might not know where the Berlin Wall was if its path wasn't commemorated with rows of cobblestone bricks. While Berlin was largely rebuilt after World War II, there are still plenty historical and architectural highlights to keep most travelers satisfied.

While I was in Berlin, I stayed at the Meininger City Hostel - Meininger Straße, which I can highly recommend. The rooms were clean, and the prices were cheap compared to staying in the Mitte. Also, transportation wasn't a problem, since several U-bahn lines stop near the hostel. If you're looking to stay closer to the historical center, or Mitte, there are plenty of other hostels in Berlin, though you can expect to pay more for them.
